Ficus Capital has invested US$400,000 through its Ficus SEA Fund in Assemblr, an augmented reality (AR) platform company. Assemblr is a Bandung-based startup that is focused on helping users to create AR content via its web-based platform.
“We have seen the emergence of augmented reality in various fields, especially in gaming, advertising, and entertainment. The demand will get bigger as the world is preparing for what the metaverse will bring. Assemblr is an intuitive single-platform tool that can provide users with engaging augmented reality and virtual reality content, making it accessible to everyone to create immersive real-life virtual experiences,” said Abdullah Hidayat, Managing Partner, Ficus Capital.
Ficus Capital has announced its flagship RM60 million fund, Ficus SEA, with a focus on investment in the Southeast Asian region. Mavcap is the fund’s anchor investor. This is Ficus Capital’s first investment for a start-up based outside of Malaysia. Ficus Capital is the world’s first shariah-compliant venture capitalist.
Co-founded by Hasbi Asyadiq, Anita Yustisia, and Risnandar in 2018, Assemblr is an augmented reality online platform that creates, discovers, and shares AR experiences for businesses, students, and personal users.
The platform allows users to build and visualise their own world and place it in real-life settings with only a few taps, dragging and dropping on their computing devices.
These young founders aim to make AR accessible for everyone on a single cloud platform. Assemblr currently has more than 2 million projects created, globally.
“We have always been committed to making AR accessible for everyone. The partnership with Ficus Capital will help us to accelerate the adoption of Assemblr as we will reach more users across the region and subsequently the world. We have put an extra emphasis on the design and usability of the platform’s UI/UX to empower users to easily create their content and enliven their ideas,” said Hasbi Asyadiq, Founder & CEO of Assemblr.
