What inspired you to start the business?

  • Adzappr was sparked at a time when businesses of all sizes were hit hard by the pandemic and not everyone could afford digital advertising or even know how to go about it. In the absence of an organised ad solution in WhatsApp coupled with the number of active users worldwide, it was an opportunity in waiting while solving a problem of easy, accessible advertising.

What has the journey been like?

  • The idea was just the first step and despite the challenges the team faced with pilot testing, bug correction, remote working and acquiring advertisers, we have persevered and expanded the platform’s user base to over 20,000 users in Malaysia alone after launching the beta version in Sept 2021.

Biggest achievement and what is one regret that you wish you had or had not done?

  • Our biggest achievement is when we went live in 2021 as well as crossing the 10k user mark in Q3 of 2021. Even though being in lockdown during the pandemic gave me this idea, I regretted not coming up with the idea earlier.

Where do you see yourself in the next 1 year?

  • A continuous organic growth in our user base and growing awareness of Adzappr among Malaysian users. With version 2 in the works, we anticipate the addition of many new and exciting features to boost our growing interest in the digital advertising landscape.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

  • Expansion of Adzappr ad services in at least 7 countries in SEA and recognition of Adzappr as a household name in social commerce.

What keeps you going to keep running the business? 

  • When we see that we are able to make a difference for the users to earn side income through our platform.

What is one local startup you would like to work together with and why?

  • We would be keen to work with a news aggregator platform like Newswav because we want to eventually syndicate the news for our active daily users on our platform.

Who is one founder (local or international) that you look up to?

  • I look up to similar founders in tech startups, specifically women like Melanie Perkins, Canva Co-founder and CEO who became the youngest woman female CEO of a multi-billion-dollar valued company.

Why should investors invest in your startup? 

  • Global digital advertising industry is one of the fastest expanding industries at over 20% annually. Strong return on investment.
